Fortinet, Inc. is an American cybersecurity company headquartered in Sunnyvale, California, one of the largest makers of network security hardware and software in the world. It was founded in 2000 by brothers Ken Xie and Michael Xie, with Ken Xie having previously founded and led the network security company NetScreen Technologies. Fortinet is best known for its FortiGate line of network firewall appliances, which combine firewall, intrusion prevention and other security functions on custom-designed processors, and the company has expanded its product range into a broad security platform covering endpoint protection, cloud security and secure networking. Fortinet competes with other major network security vendors and has built a large base of enterprise and government customers worldwide.
