Exelon Corporation is an American electric utility holding company headquartered in Chicago, Illinois, formed by the 2000 merger of PECO Energy of Philadelphia and Unicom, the parent of Commonwealth Edison of Chicago. It became one of the largest electric utility companies in the United States and the largest operator of nuclear power plants in the country, before spinning off its competitive power generation business as the separate company Constellation Energy in 2022 to focus solely on regulated utility operations.
