The European Alliance of News Agencies, known as EANA, is a federation of European news agencies founded on August 21, 1956, succeeding the earlier Agences Alliees, which had operated from 1924 until the Second World War halted its work. Its statutes state its mission as safeguarding and promoting the common interests of its member agencies and securing that they can operate as providers of unbiased news, in support of freedom of the press, and it is headquartered in Bern, Switzerland, at the offices of the Swiss Telegraphic Agency.
