Electricite de France (EDF) is a French electric utility company headquartered in Paris, founded in 1946 when the French government nationalized the country's electricity sector following the Second World War. It is France's dominant electric utility, operating the large majority of the country's nuclear power plants and standing as one of the largest nuclear-fleet operators in the world; the French state completed a renationalization of full ownership of EDF in 2023.
