Domei News Agency was the official news agency of the Empire of Japan, formed in 1935 through the merger of two rival Japanese news organizations. It operated under government control through the Second World War, running offices abroad while producing censored news and propaganda for foreign audiences, and it was disbanded by the Allied occupation in 1945, its functions split between the two successor agencies Kyodo News and Jiji Press.
