Diamond-Star Motors

Consumer Discretionary

Diamond-Star Motors was the car-making joint venture that Chrysler and Mitsubishi Motors set up in Normal, Illinois. The name joined the three diamonds of Mitsubishi with the pentastar of Chrysler. It was incorporated in October 1985, its plant was finished in March 1988, and it built the Mitsubishi Eclipse together with the Eagle Talon and Plymouth Laser from one shared design. Mitsubishi bought out Chrysler in 1991, the company became Mitsubishi Motor Manufacturing of America in 1995, and the plant was later sold to Rivian.
