The Curtiss Aeroplane and Motor Company was an American aircraft manufacturer that operated from 1909 to 1929. Glenn Hammond Curtiss and Augustus Moore Herring originally founded it in Hammondsport, New York, and after significant commercial success in its first decades it merged with Wright Aeronautical to form the Curtiss-Wright Corporation. Its later headquarters were in Buffalo, New York, and between 1917 and 1920 it was under the ownership of Willys-Overland.
