Coupang, Inc. is an American online retail and technology company headquartered in Seattle, Washington, that operates primarily in South Korea and Taiwan, founded in South Korea in 2010 by Bom Kim, a Harvard Business School student who left the program to launch the venture. Often called the Amazon of Korea for its dominant position in South Korean e-commerce, Coupang runs an internet retail business, a food delivery service and an over-the-top streaming service, with offices in South Korea, Taiwan, the United States, India, Japan and Singapore. As of 2025 it reported annual revenue of about 34.5 billion US dollars and roughly 95,000 employees, and is listed on the Fortune 500 with SoftBank holding 23.9 percent and founder Bom Kim 10.1 percent of the company.
