The Chinese Eastern Railway, abbreviated CER, is the historical name for a railway system in Northeast China. Built and initially operated by the Russian Empire as a Manchurian extension of the Trans-Siberian Railway, the line became a recurring source of dispute among Russia, Japan and China over the following decades before passing into full Chinese ownership.
