The Charles Schwab Corporation is an American financial services company headquartered in Westlake, Texas, founded in 1971 by Charles R. Schwab as a discount brokerage offering lower commissions than traditional full-service brokers. It grew into one of the largest brokerage and banking companies in the United States, and its 2020 acquisition of TD Ameritrade further consolidated the discount brokerage industry.
