California Water Service Group is an American investor-owned water utility holding company headquartered in San Jose, California, founded in 1926. Its principal subsidiary, California Water Service Company, is one of the largest investor-owned water utilities in the United States, supplying drinking water to customers across many California communities, and the holding company also owns smaller water utility subsidiaries operating in Washington, New Mexico and Hawaii. Unlike the large municipal water systems that supply most American cities, California Water Service Group operates as a regulated, publicly traded for-profit utility rather than a government-run agency.
