Brompton Bicycle Limited, trading as Brompton, is a British manufacturer of folding bicycles based in Greenford, London. The folding bicycle and its accessories are the core of the business, noted for a compact size that lets the folded bicycle stand on its own. Every model uses the same hinged frame and 16-inch wheel size, and the modular design has stayed fundamentally unchanged since Andrew Ritchie filed the original patent in 1979. Brompton is the largest volume bicycle maker in Britain, producing about 50,000 bicycles a year.
