BASF is a German multinational chemical company headquartered in Ludwigshafen, the largest chemical producer in the world, founded in 1865 as a dye manufacturer. Fritz Haber and Carl Bosch, a BASF employee, developed the Haber-Bosch process there by 1912, after which the company grew rapidly; it operates production sites in more than eighty countries and supplies a wide range of industries.
