Axalta Coating Systems Ltd. is a coatings company headquartered in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, formed in 2013 when the private equity firm Carlyle Group acquired DuPont's performance coatings business and spun it out as an independent company, taking it public the following year. Axalta makes automotive refinish coatings used to repair and repaint vehicles after collision damage, as well as original equipment and industrial coatings for a range of manufactured products, and it operates manufacturing and distribution facilities across dozens of countries.
