Australian Associated Press (AAP) is an Australian news agency headquartered in Surry Hills, New South Wales, founded in 1935 by media proprietor Keith Murdoch through the merger of two competing news services. Operating as a not-for-profit organization since being rescued from closure in 2020 by a consortium of investors and philanthropists led by Peter Tonagh, it employs around 90 journalists covering breaking news, courts, sport, politics and features across Australia.
