Austin Rover Group was the volume car business of British Leyland, created in 1982 from the old BL Cars company after a restructuring that dropped Triumph and Morris and let Jaguar go its own way. It built the Austin Metro, Maestro and Montego and the Rover cars of the day, and it also took in the Honda partnership cars of the 1980s. It became part of the Rover Group when British Leyland was renamed in 1986.
