The American Ice Company was an ice manufacturing and distribution business that supplied the Mid-Atlantic and Southern United States. Its Baltimore, Maryland plant at 2100 West Franklin Street, a large industrial brick building designed by Mortimer and Company and built by Fidelity Construction in 1910 and 1911, was one of its production facilities. The company was acquired by Baltimore American Ice in the 1960s, and by the 1980s its business had shifted mainly to bagged ice for commercial customers and dry ice for industrial use; the Franklin Street plant was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2013.
