An owner-operator business model is one in which the owner of a small business or microbusiness also runs its day-to-day operations personally, rather than hiring separate management. The model is prevalent across multiple industries, including trucking, where an owner-operator owns and drives their own truck, and franchising, where it appears across restaurant chains, health care, logistics, and maintenance and repair operations.
