Thomas J. Peters is an American writer on business management practices, born 7 November 1942 in Baltimore, Maryland. He worked at McKinsey and Company from 1974 to 1981 before becoming an independent consultant, and he achieved prominence with his 1982 bestseller In Search of Excellence, co-authored with Robert H. Waterman Jr., which became widely influential in business circles and gained further exposure through PBS television specials.
