Tincture of cannabis

Tincture of cannabis, sometimes called green dragon, is an alcohol-based extract made by soaking dried cannabis flowers in ethanol, which dissolves THC and other cannabinoids out of the plant material; pre-heating the cannabis before soaking increases the tincture's potency. It was included in the United States Pharmacopoeia until 1942 and was used as a conventional medicine in a number of countries into the mid-twentieth century. Today it is used for both therapeutic and recreational purposes, generally taken orally or applied to the skin, and it also serves as the basis for standardized modern cannabis medicines such as nabiximols.
