Tarpaulin

A tarpaulin, commonly shortened to tarp, is a large sheet of strong, flexible, water resistant or waterproof material, often canvas or polyester coated with polyurethane, or plastics such as polyethylene. It typically carries reinforced grommets at its corners and along its sides to give rope secure attachment points. Modern low cost tarpaulins are mostly made from woven polyethylene, a material so common in the category that many people simply call the product a poly tarp or polytarp.
