Hashish, often abbreviated as hash, is a cannabis concentrate product made by collecting and compressing the resin bearing trichomes from the flowers, and to a lesser extent the stalks and leaves, of the cannabis plant. The dried, concentrated resin carries a higher concentration of cannabinoid compounds than unprocessed cannabis flower. The product has a long history of popularity in regions including Afghanistan, India, Pakistan, Iran, Iraq, Lebanon, Morocco, Nepal and Egypt, and its consumption patterns have shifted over time, growing in Europe while declining somewhat in the United States as other cannabis concentrate products have become more common there.
