Baby transport

Consumer Discretionary

Baby transport is the general term for the range of devices used to carry and move infants and young children, a category that includes baby carriages known as prams in British English, portable bassinets called carrycots, strollers or pushchairs, infant car seats, slings, backpack carriers, baskets and bicycle carriers. The devices fall broadly into on-the-body carriers such as slings and soft front or backpack carriers, which keep an infant close while leaving both hands free, and wheeled devices, where prams are the larger, heavier design built for a newborn to lie flat and strollers are the lighter, more compact design used for a sitting child up to about three years old. Design has shifted substantially over time: the large, heavy prams that became popular in the Victorian era were replaced by much lighter designs during the second half of the twentieth century, and the category today also includes bicycle trailers and baskets built specifically for transporting infants.
