Compost

Compost is a mixture of ingredients used as a plant fertilizer and to improve the physical, chemical, and biological properties of soil. It is commonly prepared by decomposing plant and food waste, recycling organic materials, and manure, producing a mixture rich in plant nutrients and beneficial organisms such as bacteria, protozoa, nematodes, and fungi. It improves soil fertility in gardens, landscaping, horticulture, urban agriculture, and organic farming by supplying nutrients, conditioning soil, raising humus content, and introducing microbes that help suppress soil-borne pathogens and disease.
