Consumer Electronics

Consumer electronics, also called home electronics, are electronic devices meant for everyday household use, covering products for entertainment, communications and recreation. The category was once split in American English into black goods and in British English into brown goods, a distinction that has blurred since the 2010s as retailers now stock entertainment, communication, home office and home appliance devices together. It grew from early broadcast receivers through telephones, televisions and personal computers to more recently include smartphones, smart home devices, virtual reality headsets and wearable technology.
