Blu-ray

Blu-ray is a digital optical disc data storage format created to supersede the DVD format. Developed in the early to mid-2000s and released worldwide on June 20, 2006, it can store several hours of high-definition video and became the primary medium for feature films and for physical distribution of video games on the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X. The format name refers to the blue laser used to read its discs, which allows information to be packed more densely than the longer-wavelength red laser used for DVDs, giving Blu-ray discs a greater storage capacity.
