Tyrkisk peber

Tyrkisk peber is a brand of salty licorice candy flavored with salmiak, popular across Northern Europe, delivering a sharp, burning taste from ammonium chloride. It was invented in 1976 by Per Fjelsten in Jutland, Denmark, and first sold commercially in 1977 by the Danish manufacturer Perelly, originally founded as Stovring Bolcher in 1946, becoming one of the company's best selling products. The Finnish company Fazer took partial ownership in the mid-1980s, later bought Perelly outright and moved production to Finland in the 1990s, and holds exclusive rights to the Tyrkisk peber name even though competitors sell similar candies.
