Rolls-Royce Holdings plc

Rolls-Royce Holdings plc is a British multinational aerospace and defence company headquartered in London, incorporated in February 2011 as the parent holding company for the Rolls-Royce engineering business established in 1904 by Charles Rolls and Henry Royce. The original Rolls-Royce also built the separately owned Rolls-Royce luxury motor car marque before the aero-engine and motor car businesses were permanently split in the aftermath of the parent company's 1971 bankruptcy and nationalisation; the motor car brand has been separately owned by BMW since 2003 and is not part of Rolls-Royce Holdings. Today's Rolls-Royce Holdings designs, manufactures and services gas turbine engines for civil and military aircraft, making it one of the world's largest aircraft engine manufacturers alongside General Electric and Pratt & Whitney, and it also maintains major businesses in marine propulsion, submarine reactors for the Royal Navy, and power generation including a nuclear small modular reactor programme.
