Uniper SE

Uniper SE is a German multinational energy company headquartered in Dusseldorf. It was created in 2016 when the German utility E.ON SE spun off its conventional power generation, energy trading and global commodities businesses into a separately listed company, so that E.ON itself could focus on renewable energy, networks and customer solutions. Uniper's heavy reliance on Russian natural gas left it severely exposed when Russian gas supplies to Europe collapsed following Russia's 2022 invasion of Ukraine, and the German government nationalized a majority stake in the company later that year to prevent its collapse.
