Manawa Energy

Manawa Energy is a New Zealand electricity generation company headquartered in Tauranga that operates 26 power schemes, mostly hydroelectric, across the country from the Bay of Plenty to Otago, and offers bespoke electricity products to commercial and industrial customers. Founded in 1993 and formerly known as Trustpower before rebranding in 2022 after selling its mass market retail business to Mercury NZ, the company was majority owned by Infratil and the Tauranga Energy Consumer Trust until Contact Energy acquired it in July 2025.
