CMS Energy Corporation is an American utility holding company headquartered in Jackson, Michigan, formed in 1987 as the parent of Consumers Energy, a Michigan gas and electric utility with roots reaching back to the late nineteenth century. It provides electricity and natural gas service to millions of customers across most of Michigan's Lower Peninsula.
