DTE Energy Company is an American utility holding company headquartered in Detroit, Michigan, formed in 1995 as the parent of Detroit Edison, an electric utility founded in 1903, and later combined with the Michigan Consolidated Gas Company (MichCon), a natural gas utility. It provides electricity and natural gas service to residential, commercial and industrial customers across much of Michigan.
