Korea Electric Power Corporation

Korea Electric Power Corporation, known as KEPCO, is a South Korean state-controlled electric utility headquartered in Naju, South Korea, the dominant electricity generation and transmission company in the country. It was formed in 1961 through the merger of three earlier Korean electric utility companies, unifying South Korea's power sector under a single state-backed operator during the country's postwar industrialization. KEPCO operates South Korea's national electricity transmission and distribution grid and, through generation subsidiaries, a large share of the country's power plants, including its nuclear fleet, while the South Korean government retains majority ownership. The company has also pursued major nuclear power plant construction and export projects abroad, including in the United Arab Emirates.
