Huntsman Corporation is an American chemical manufacturer headquartered in The Woodlands, Texas, a major global producer of polyurethanes and other specialty chemicals. It was founded in 1970 by Jon Huntsman Sr., who began the company as a maker of plastic packaging including the plastic egg carton and the McDonald's clamshell food container before building it into a diversified chemical manufacturer through a long series of acquisitions from the 1980s onward. Huntsman today produces polyurethane chemicals used in insulation, furniture and construction materials, along with performance products and advanced materials used in adhesives, coatings and composites. The company remains closely associated with the Huntsman family, which has also been known for extensive philanthropic giving, including cancer research funding.
