BHP Group Limited, historically known as Broken Hill Proprietary, is an Australian mining company headquartered in Melbourne, tracing its origins to a silver, lead and zinc mine established at Broken Hill, New South Wales, in 1885. It grew into one of the world's largest mining companies, producing iron ore, copper, coal and other commodities, and merged with the Anglo-Dutch mining company Billiton in 2001 before unifying its dual-listed structure into a single Australian-listed company in 2022.
