Eastman Chemical Company

Eastman Chemical Company is an American chemical manufacturer headquartered in Kingsport, Tennessee, a major global producer of specialty chemicals, fibers and plastics. It was founded in 1920 as Tennessee Eastman Company, a subsidiary created by Eastman Kodak to manufacture the chemicals Kodak needed for photographic film, and it operated as part of Kodak for most of the twentieth century before being spun off as an independent public company in 1994. Eastman produces materials used across packaging, textiles, coatings and consumer goods, including its Tritan copolyester plastics and cellulose-based fibers, and has increasingly emphasized chemical recycling technology intended to break down plastic waste into reusable raw materials. The company operates manufacturing sites across North America, Europe and Asia.
