Cadence Design Systems, Inc. is an American multinational technology and computational software company headquartered in San Jose, California. Originally specialized in electronic design automation software for the semiconductor industry, the company now makes software and hardware for designing integrated circuits, systems on chips and printed circuit boards, and also develops large scale molecular modelling applications and toolkits for pharmaceutical drug developers. Cadence additionally licenses intellectual property to the electronics, aerospace, defense and automotive industries, competing with the already-live Synopsys, Inc. in the electronic design automation market.
