CSX Corporation is an American holding company headquartered in Jacksonville, Florida, formed in 1980 through the merger of the Chessie System and Seaboard Coast Line Industries rail holding companies. Its principal subsidiary, CSX Transportation, operates a major freight railroad network across the eastern United States.
