Cummins Inc. is an American manufacturer of diesel and natural gas engines and power generation equipment headquartered in Columbus, Indiana, founded in 1919 by Clessie Cummins with financial backing from local businessman W.G. Irwin. It grew into one of the largest independent makers of diesel engines in the world, supplying engines and power systems for trucks, buses, construction and agricultural equipment and backup power generation.
