AMETEK, Inc. is an American multinational conglomerate that designs and manufactures electronic instruments and electromechanical devices, headquartered in Berwyn, Pennsylvania, with more than 150 sites worldwide. The company was founded in 1930 as American Machine and Metals, shortening its name to AMETEK in the early 1960s as it moved from heavy machinery into analytical instruments, precision components and specialty materials. It operates through an Electronic Instruments Group and an Electromechanical Group covering more than 100 brands that make analytical, monitoring and testing equipment, calibration devices, electrical motors, pumps and interconnects.
