Swiss International Air Lines, generally known simply as Swiss, is the flag carrier of Switzerland, registered in Basel and operating its main hub from Zurich Airport. It was formed in 2002 out of the collapse of the storied former flag carrier Swissair, combining the regional airline Crossair with parts of Swissair's remaining operations and brand assets. Swiss became a wholly owned subsidiary of the Lufthansa Group in 2007 and is a member of the Star Alliance, operating alongside its parent group's other national carriers Austrian Airlines and Brussels Airlines while retaining its own distinct Swiss branding and premium-service reputation.
