Leonardo S.p.A.

Leonardo S.p.A. is an Italian multinational aerospace, defense and security company headquartered in Rome, majority owned by the Italian government. It operated for decades as Finmeccanica before renaming itself Leonardo in 2016 in honor of Leonardo da Vinci. The company is one of the largest defense companies in the world, with major business lines in helicopters through its AgustaWestland heritage, a share of the Eurofighter Typhoon combat aircraft program, and defense electronics, and it co-owns the satellite and space companies Thales Alenia Space and Telespazio jointly with the French company Thales.
