Voies Ferrees des Landes

The Voies Ferrees des Landes, known as VFL, was formed in 1916 from the merger of three short line railway companies in the Landes forest region of Gascony, France. Its lines were built primarily to carry timber out of the forested area, and by the early twenty-first century only 17 kilometers of the network's peak 361 kilometer length remained in commercial use. A section of the line between Labouheyre and Sabres was taken over by the Association francaise des amis des chemins de fer and now serves an agricultural museum at Marqueze.
