Societe des chemins de fer du Quebec

The Societe des chemins de fer du Quebec was a Canadian railway holding company, founded in 1993 by Groupe Jean Fournier Incorporated and private investors, that bought and operated a group of short line railways across Quebec, Ontario, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia, including the Charlevoix Railway, the Ottawa Central Railway and the Sydney Coal Railway, among other subsidiaries. By November 2008 the Canadian National Railway had purchased four of its major subsidiaries for 49.8 million Canadian dollars while Logistec Corporation acquired the Sydney Coal Railway, effectively winding down the company, which was fully defunct by 2009.
