Raritan River Railroad

The Raritan River Railroad was a 12 mile shortline railroad in Middlesex County, New Jersey. Founded in 1888 and based in South Amboy, it ran west as far as New Brunswick, carrying both passengers and freight profitably through much of its existence. It was absorbed into Conrail in 1980 and became a branch line of Conrail Shared Assets Operations, terminating at U.S. Route 1 in North Brunswick.
