The North Western of Uruguay Railway was one of the five original rail systems in Uruguay, alongside the Midland Uruguay, Central Uruguay, Uruguay Northern, and Uruguay East Coast railways. The North Western of Uruguay Railway Company, Ltd. was registered in London in 1882.
