Córdoba and Huatusco Railroad

The Córdoba and Huatusco Railroad was a narrow gauge, 2-foot-gauge railway company in Mexico's Veracruz state, whose original concession dated to 1898 before the company itself was established in 1902 under investor Julio Limantour, engineer Juan Navarro and Carlos Moricard. It built and ran a mixed passenger and freight line running 33 kilometers from Córdoba toward Coscomatepec across rugged terrain near the Pico de Orizaba, but funding problems left it about 19 kilometers short of its intended terminus at Huatusco. After Limantour's death the unfinished line was sold to the Ferrocarril Mexicano in 1909; mixed train service continued until 1951 and the rails were lifted in 1953, with one locomotive, named Luisa, preserved in Mexico City while the other two were scrapped in 1954.
