Central Manitoba Railway

The Central Manitoba Railway is a Canadian short line freight railway based in Winnipeg, Manitoba, created in 1999 by Cando Rail and Terminals to purchase the former Canadian National Pine Falls subdivision, 67 miles of track, and the Carman subdivision, 51 miles of track. The company runs freight service five days a week and operates from a former Canadian Pacific Railway yard in the Norcran Industrial Area of North Transcona, built in the late 1880s, where it also built a new shop and diesel repair facility. Beyond hauling its own freight, the railway earns additional revenue repairing rail cars for other railway companies. Its workforce is unionized, represented by the Teamsters Canada Rail Conference.
