Uganda Railways Corporation

The Uganda Railways Corporation (URC) is Uganda's parastatal railway operator, established in 1977 after the breakup of the East African Railways Corporation, when Uganda took over its share of the former East African rail system. It runs a metre-gauge network rooted in the British colonial Uganda Railway, including a main line from Kampala to the Kenyan border at Tororo, a branch to Port Bell, and a northern route to Gulu, and it previously operated train ferries on Lake Victoria linking regional rail systems.
