The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) is the state-owned enterprise holding exclusive rights to operate railways in Nigeria. It traces its founding to October 3, 1912, when the Lagos Government Railway and the Baro-Kano Railway were combined into a single system, and it took its current name in 1955. Headquartered in Lagos, the NRC operates both narrow cape-gauge lines, totaling about 3,505 kilometers, and newer standard-gauge lines, running passenger and freight services across the country.
